It has been confirmed today that the 20/21 Scottish Cup will be played to a finish this season.

Rangers tie in the third round against Cove Rangers looks set to get the go-ahead at Ibrox on the weekend of 3/4 April, following the end of March international break.

The Scottish Cup Final has now been pushed back to 22nd May, instead of the initial plan for 8th May due to Hampden plans for Euro 2020.

With the new Scottish Cup dates confirmed this afternoon, it means there will be upheaval for Rangers remaining fixture list with Premiership games also set to change dates.

Additionally, if Rangers make it past Slavia Prague into the Europa League quarter-finals, it will mean an extremely busy April for Steven Gerrard’s men.

The new Scottish Cup dates are as follows:

Second Round – Tuesday, 23 March
Third Round – Saturday, 3 April
Fourth Round – Saturday, 17 April
Fifth Round – Saturday, 24 April
Semi-Finals – Saturday, 8 & Sunday, 9 May
Final – Saturday, 22 May

A Scottish FA statement from the same source above, included:

“Following yesterday’s announcement that SPFL League One and Two and Highland League clubs who remain in the competition are permitted to return to play immediately, the Scottish Cup is now set to recommence this month.”

“The competition will resume on Tuesday, 23 March in order to complete the outstanding ties from the Second Round before the Third Round is played on the weekend of 3 April.”

“The last two weekends in April will see the Fourth and Fifth Rounds of the competition completed prior to the Semi-Finals which will be held across the weekend of 8 May.”

“The 2021 Scottish Cup Final will bring the curtain down on the season at Hampden Park on Saturday, 22 May.”

With some doubt over whether League 1 and 2 clubs will be able to return, it has been mooted that they will be able to forfeit their games if required, but prize money already earned will not be affected.
