First Defeat For Gerrard – 13 Was Unlucky Against Celtic

|

On Sunday, Steven Gerrard’s Rangers side came back down to earth slightly as Celtic dominated the first Old Firm of the year.

It’s easy to lose perspective as confidence was incredibly high for many ahead of the game kicking off, and whilst it’s difficult to argue they didn’t deserve the win really – we can take positives from some manful defending and Gerrard would’ve wanted to see us more clinical when our chances came along.

One goal won it for them, even though they hit the woodwork a few times and the history books will say we are winless in the derby going back to March 2012, however, I think Gerrard will take a more philosophical approach as it is still early days under him and as a side we are still coming together and waiting for things to click properly given all the changes over the summer and the sheer numbers of arrivals.

We are far from the finished product and a first loss was coming given our unbeaten start, it just grates that it came in this one and in that manner, but Celtic undoubtedly raised their game so it’s fair to say they felt the pressure. We need to raise our game to justify that pressure in the future and we didn’t.
