Speculation around the future of Rangers Croatian international left-back Borna Barisic has increased following the scenes at the end of yesterday’s victorious Old Firm encounter.

Despite not being fully fit, Barisic put in a much improved showing following on from Thursday in Armenia, to play his part in the 1-0 win over Celtic.

“He comes and goes, he comes and goes…” – is the chant from the Ibrox faithful for their man but is he going for the final time?

A clearly emotional Barisic was on his knees and gave the Ibrox turf a pat, followed by a hug or two from some of the Rangers squad members who weren’t involved in the game.

This incident was highlighted by the Sky Sports cameras and dissected by Eilidh Barbour and Kris Boyd in the studio as to whether the man signed from Osijek is heading for the exit door.

Others have said that it is true to the Croatian’s nature and after a heavily toil during the frantic match, he was simply expressing emoton at the outcome and his recent struggles with injury and poor form.

Verdict

Only time will tell, but we don’t have long to find out.

Barisic is know to have admirers in Serie A, particularly Roma, and at 28, this could be his last chance for that final significant transfer of his career – if it was to Italy, a Top Five league and to be next door to his homeland, who could blame him?

There is also the financial situation at Ibrox which dictates that a player sale this week is likely and of all the ‘big names’ mooted for a move out of Ibrox, Barisic is probably the least worst option as opposed to the likes of Glen Kamara, Alfredo Morelos and Connor Goldson for different reasons.
