Speaking to Sky Sports, recent Rangers arrival Sheyi Ojo has said that he signed for the club thanks to Steven Gerrard’s presence at Ibrox.
The former Liverpool midfielder was one of the great players of his generation but now he is a manager and he’ll want to enjoy similar levels of success.
He’s gunning for Celtic this season coming, then, and Ojo could well be a key part of that with him bringing plenty of potential and talent to the flanks.
He must prove himself, but he seems ready to with him hinting he was drawn to the club in part thanks to our manager.
“You have to push yourself every day [under Gerrard] and I want to do that for my career.
“Everyday is going to be an exciting challenge with the gaffer here and I want to show what I can do.”
This certainly bodes well for the rest of the summer.
Players want to work with a former player like Steven Gerrard because of the experience he has got and because of the knowledge he can give them.
He’s an icon and Ojo’s admission is something we should hopefully see more of as the window progresses.
