Rangers great Andy Goram received many tributes and respects on Monday, as his funeral procession made its way past Ibrox Stadium.

The legend of  ‘The Goalie’ and the name of Andy Goram will live on in Ibrox folklore with his legacy safely secured, that is guaranteed.

His former teammates and friends, Ally McCoist and John Brown paid their own respects, in front of fans who came along to Edmiston Drive as another hero of the club was taken, far too soon, following the recent losses of Walter Smith and Jimmy Bell.

The cortege moved on to Wellington Church in Glasgow, where the service took place with Andy’s family joined by many familiar faces from Rangers and Scottish football circles.

Current Ibrox boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst led his squad into the church, with others such as Richard Gough, Mark Hateley and Stuart McCall present. Stewart Robertson was among the Rangers directors to attend, as did Sir Alex Ferguson and Donald Findlay QC.

Legend

Andy Goram was, is and will remain a true Rangers legend.

His ability and contributions on the pitch over the nine-in-a-row era are well documented and thanks to the array of video footage available, will continue to be enjoyed by the supporters as well as witnessed by future generations.

Children of the 1990s, like myself, were raised with knowing ‘The Goalie’ as THE Rangers goalkeeper with plenty of early, but vivid memories to cherish. All those iconic saves, the Adidas ‘keeper kits, the character and stories will endure.

Farewell to the late, great Andy Goram.
