On a night when Rangers struggled to score against Kilmarnock an on-loan Ger was scoring his third goal in his fifth appearance for his temporary club.
Jamie Murphy found the net once again for Burton Albion as he continues to make an impression with the League 1 side which has left fans wondering why he was so far behind the likes of Brandon Barker, Sheyi Ojo, Jordan Jones and even Greg Stewart in the pecking order.
After deciding to stay and fight for his place, Murphy was unable to complete a full pre-season and as a result found himself constantly trying to catch up but without being able to play enough competitive games to rediscover his form.
Should Jamie Murphy have had more game time for Rangers this season?
Yes
No
With 18-months left on his Rangers contract there may yet be time for him to return to action in the Light Blue jersey and these Rangers fans have been left bewildered at the decision to let him go considering what they have seen from other wingers this season.
Understand Murphy needed minutes but surely a half fit Jamie Murphy was a better option than Barker & Ojo. That’s just one decision a can’t get ma head round honestly https://t.co/ftx3dsRjAT

Actually baffling how he never got a look in, same with Jamie Murphy, he’s miles ahead of clowns like ojo and barker

Managers stand or fall by their decisions. To think we shipped out Jamie Murphy to make space for the £7m show pony

Jamie Murphy is doing EXACTLY what @RangersFC need from a winger. Scoring and creating goals. Sorry to the it’s only Burton crew, but the opposition aren’t much lower than the standard we play against #Rangers

As a lifelong Rangers fan there is nothing more that Murphy would want than to return to first team football at Ibrox, if he maintains this form then there is no reason why he can’t get a second chance under Steven Gerrard.
