A scrum of photographers and supporters is expected at Glasgow Airport, straining and jostling for position as the Rangers squad and staff arrive for their flight.

We might need some security for this one.

An early afternoon departure awaits, on the charter aircraft, for the journey to the Caucasus nation of Armenia for Thursday’s Europa League decider against Alashkert.

VitalRangers understands that earlier this morning, the plane made its way north from Stansted before it will serve the Scottish champions.

With a three hour time difference, the transit across the continent means a late evening arrival in Yerevan.

This is expected to be followed up by the obligations of the pre-match press conference, dictated by UEFA rule, 25.01 :

“The clubs undertake that their teams will arrive at the match venue by the evening before the match at the latest and that they will fulfil their media obligations the day before the match.”

Overall, it is drama and activity that Rangers did not need, but in a sign of the times it is a situation that can’t be totally prevented.

Now, all eyes are on the airport to see who is absent from the travelling party.
