Rangers have appointed former Arsenal coach Neil Banfield as one of the club’s scouts ahead of the January transfer window, as reported by The Times this week.
The 56-year-old has vast experience at the highest level having worked under Arsene Wenger at the Gunners for over 20 years. He left the Emirates this summer in the wake of Wenger’s departure.
That the club is attracting a figure of such experience is a hugely positive sign when it comes to our transfer direction, given the contacts he will likely have south of the border.
Steven Gerrard has shown he prefers the English market early in his Rangers career and bringing Banfield in will likely improve our ability to bring exciting young players to Ibrox.
Fans are definitely enjoying the news and took to Twitter this weekend to share their thoughts on it all…
Must be have something about him to have been at arsenal for 20 years, another exciting appointment by club.

Also silence those wannabe accountant sleuths who predict doom and gloom based on our financial results. Board continues to back, overhaul and improve all facets of the club
