Exciting insight suggests summer arrival will flourish under Gerrard

|

Recently, the Daily Record reported that a deal had been agreed with Liverpool for the loan signing of winger Sheyi Ojo.

The suggestion is that the player will link up with our club before pre-season begins and will, therefore, be able to get up to speed quickly with what Steven Gerrard wants from him.

What can we expect from the player, though? It seems there’s potential but it needs to be unlocked by the right manager.

Indeed, that suggestion comes from John Gibbons of the Anfield Wrap – a dedicated Liverpool blog and podcast that knows the Merseyside club better than most.

He’s a good judge of what Ojo could provide, then, and it seems as though the influence of Steven Gerrard could mean we get to see the best of a bright talent at Ibrox – after some years of frustration.

Gibbons said in an interview with the Scotsman:

“It is worrying that none of his loan moves have worked out pretty well.

“He’s had problems with injuries, but there have also been question marks about his attitude from fans of clubs who have watched him.

“He’s starred for England at all age groups. You just had a feeling with some of the loan moves he struggled for motivation. Like he felt he was above it all, which you can’t do in the Championship.

“Steven Gerrard will know him well and wouldn’t have taken him if he didn’t feel he could succeed where other managers have failed and unlock the considerable talent he has.”

Let’s hope Gerrard can get the best out of him, then, as you’d have thought he wouldn’t slack with such a legend of the game breathing down his neck.

Indeed, it’s an exciting prospect that, given his apparent talent, we might be able to get the very best out of a player thanks to our manager.
