Everton have reportedly made a second bid for Rangers Nathan Patterson, which has been rejected at Ibrox.

The news comes as the Toffees are said to have made an offer for Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles, in order to increase their options on the right flank.

That bid suggested their chase for Patterson had been put to bed for now, but it is not the case.

The update comes from from Paul Joyce of The Times regarding Rafa Benitez’ latest dealings which will have ramifications at Ibrox.

It is known that they have been tracking the talented Ibrox youngster but following an initial rebuff, they have returned and now the questions is how much do they want the Scotland international?

Everyone at Rangers is very keen to see Patterson remain in place at Ibrox, but as Steven Gerrard has already pointed out, every player has their price.

The thought of losing the Auchenhowie graduate before his Rangers career truly blossoms is a sore one to consider however the reality is that English Premier League clubs have the financial muscle to take advantage of the situation and potentially acquire players like Patterson with a relatively modest outlay.

As we go into the last week of the transfer window, further activity at Ibrox is expected with any players coming in likely to be preceded by a player sale.

With Nathan Patterson too good to sit on the bench for much longer, yet currently the understudy to the club captain James Tavernier, something has to give relatively soon.
