Marseille are interested in Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos as they prepare to find a replacement for in-form striker Mario Balotelli, as reported by The Daily Record.

The paper say that the £18m-rated (Transfermarkt) former Liverpool and Manchester City man could be on his way back to Italy this summer after scoring seven goals in nine appearances for the French club since joining in January.

Club Director of Football Andoni Zubizarreta is said to be keen on replacing his presence in the Marseille team with a big move for Rangers star Morelos.

The Colombian, as every Gers fan knows, has had an excellent season at Ibrox, scoring 29 goals and assisting 11 times in 45 appearances.

His disciplinary record obviously hasn’t been the best, but he’s been the most effective striker in the country by a distance, also winning caps with a talented Colombia national team.

It’s all seen his stock rise higher than ever before and should ensure some cash-rich clubs are interested in his services this summer.

That means Marseille will likely need to weigh in with a big bid to secure his future if they are truly interested.

The only thing certain about Morelos right now is he won’t be leaving Scotland cheaply.
