Rangers’ Champions League opponents Villarreal have had a morale boosting victory over Espanyol in La Liga this weekend.
Our rival’s hit Espanyol for four in the league game thanks to goals from Tacchinardi, Senna, Forlan and Font. Three of the goals came in the first half with the last goal coming with eight minutes to play at Villarreal’s Estadio El Madrigal.
Along with this confidence booster, it has also emerged that Juan Roman Riquelme has been passed fit for the visit to Ibrox on Wednesday after being a major doubt for the Spaniards.
Villarreal coach Manuel Pellegrini said: ‘The weekend was perfect for us. The three points against Espanyol and the return of Roman.’
