Rangers defender Lee Wallace could be on the verge of an exit from the club, with English Championship side Bristol City interested in giving him a first-team chance this January.

The Scottish Sun report that the 31-year-old is high on the list of manager Lee Johnson’s transfer targets, with his contract due to expire at the end of this season.

Gers boss Steven Gerrard has made it clear to the player and to the press that Borna Barisic is his preferred long-term choice in the left-back position, so the former club captain has a big decision to make regarding his future.

He’s proven himself to be extremely loyal to the Rangers cause over the years, but no-one would stand in his way if he feels he still has a few years left of playing regularly in his legs.

Having him as back-up would give us real depth, but he’s struggled to get minutes on the pitch since his return from injury, with Gerrard favouring Jon Flanagan as the alternative to summer signing Barisic.

This will be one story to watch over the next few weeks.
