George Edmundson has agreed a three year deal with a new club – according to a Daily Record report this evening.

The Englishman spent the second half of last season on loan with Derby County in the English Championship and now it appears that his time in Glasgow has come to an end.

“George Edmundson has agreed a deal to leave Rangers.”

“Record Sport understands the defender has signed a three-year contract with an unnamed club.”

With Connor Goldson, Leon Balogun, Fil Helander, Niko Katic and Jack Simpson currently all in contention for two starting berths, the expectation is that another centre-half will leave this Summer – manager Steven Gerrard was on record last year that he would not be going forward with six options – including Edmundson.

The former Oldham man was also involved with the covid breach incident last season, along with Jordan Jones, which was a set-back on and off the pitch for his Rangers prospects.

Confirmation will follow very soon on this story.
