Smith has options ahead of Jambo’s clash…

Hearts Team News:

Hearts boss Csaba Laszlo does not have his problems to seek on the injury front.

Influential winger Andrew Driver remains sidelined, along with the impression Laryea Kingston for both the Jambo’s Europe cup match this evening against Zagreb and Sunday’s visit of Rangers.

One positive for the Edinburgh side will be the return of left-back Lee Wallace, who looks to have recovered from a hip injury.

Marius Zaliakus remains suspended in the league despite his likely return this evening in the Europa Cup.

Former Rangers trialist Michael Stewart will join the Lithuanian on the sidelines after picking up a red-card during the defeat to Dundee United on Monday evening.

Rangers Team News:

Rangers should be boosted by the return of Pedro Mendes and Sasa Papac for the tricky visit to Gorgie on Sunday.

Bosnian Full-Back Papac will return from suspension, while Mendes is expected to recover from a thigh strain in time for the ‘gers first away trip of the season.

After an injury-laden three years, Murray Park graduate Steven Smith will hope he has done enough to keep his place in the team, after a solid performance in Rangers opening-day victory over Falkirk.

As well as the left-back position, Walter Smith will be pleased to have another problem on his hands for this game: Whether or not to start Kevin Thomson.

Lee McCulloch has shocked many of his detractors by putting in some excellent pre-season performances prior to his solid outing against the Bairns last weekend, capped with an early ‘Goal of the Season’ candidate as well. Walter has suggested that the next step in Thommo’s rehabilitation will be to start a game.

With Mendes likely to be ready, and Thomson stepping up his fitness, Rangers find themselves in what will be a rare situation for this season – A selection headache.
