Early goal, fast start and a high line, three musts for three points

It shows how tight the Scottish Premiership is when it seems as though all we have done recently is play the team sitting in third place in the table, other than Livingston that is.

St Mirren, Motherwell and Hearts have all been seen off and, hopefully, Jm Goodwin’s side will meet the same fate, Aberdeen are currently the best of the rest.

As always, our opposition has had a full week to prepare their match plans and if they aren’t well organised there should be questions asked of their manager, an early goal for the home side would be a great way to make them rip them up and start again – Antonio Colak’s missed header in the second minute last week arguably changed the course of the remaining 90 minutes.

There are too many players with a point to prove to mention, few are in their best form but there is no excuse for an apparent lack of effort or intensity. The second half against Napoli was much better when Giovanni van Bronckhorst ordered us to play higher up the park and take more risks, and it should be no different at Ibrox.

Our centre-halves are quick enough to defend on the halfway line and that’s exactly where they should be, it’s just a shame that Allan McGregor isn’t quick enough to leave his goal-line and do them a favour from time to time.

The rhetoric has been about creating more chances and being more positive, hopefully, the players sent out to get the three points put their money where their mouths are.
