New reserve coach Gordon Durie has said that Rangers is the perfect place for him following the illness that forced him out of the game for a period last year.

The 47 year old has accepted a position working with our reserve and U20 squad after making a full recovery from the illness that affected him.

Speaking to the Official Site he said of himself and his new position.

‘I’m feeling great. This is the pick up I’ve really been looking for in the last year as I’ve had a bad time of things off the park. I was managing East Fife but I got a virus and then had a mini seizure. It was very worrying at the time but thankfully I’ve had all the checks and I’ve been given the all clear, so this move now comes at the right time for me.’

Durie says that plenty of people at the club got in touch with him when he fell ill and that family feeling and the well wishes that followed showed him what a special place this was.

‘All I can say now is that I’m back at the best club in the world again, I’m well and I’m looking forward to working here.’
