No mercy for United, Gers aggression and intensity should be too much

Four clean sheets in a row in the league, Glen Kamara running games from midfield and moving the ball quickly, Joe Aribo tormenting teams, Ryan Kent looking sharper than ever and Alfredo Morelos scoring goals are good signs that we are heading in the right direction under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Dundee United are next on a congested fixture list and are without a win in their last four league games, including three losses in a row, it is a great opportunity for Rangers to extend the lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership to seven points with Celtic playing in the league cup final this weekend – we have a rare mid-week off when they face St Mirren but it would at least apply a little more pressure in the build up to the first Old Firm of the season.

There is, of course, also the return of Covid-19 and our opponents likely to be without several regulars, perhaps the party night in Newcastle wasn’t such a great idea after all.

As we showed against St Johnstone, even a hard working and well organised side can’t live with us if we move the ball quickly and packing the box obviously wasn’t much use either seeing as we managed to get 27 shots off on goal, more of the same against United would surely see another comfortable three points added to the tally.

Agression at home seems to be the mantra under Gio, no need for three or even two defensive midfielders as we look to get the ball up to the opposition box as quickly as possible, a good mix of long, direct play and neat 1-2 interchanges make us a lot harder to play against now – we still, as we saw against St Johnstone, offer a set piece threat too.

Somebody is going to get a hiding off us soon given how many chances we are creating, let’s hope it’s this weekend.
