Rangers have signed up youth trio Rhys Breen, Brian Kinnear and Lewis Budinauckas up to new contracts at the club, as confirmed by the official academy Twitter account today.
The three players’ contracts were due to expire at the end of the season but the club have moved to sign them up until the summer of 2020, giving them an opportunity to try and break into the first-team or develop further in the reserves.
Defender Breen is probably the closest currently to making a breakthrough, with the other two still learning their trades as goalkeepers.
The 19-year-old has been spotted training with the senior side at Auchenhowie and it’d be great to see him potentially push for a place in upcoming matchday squads.
Fans have been crying out for more academy prospects making the breakthrough and the coaching staff clearly feel these three players have potential.
These supporters took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the news earlier today…
Well done to all 3 and keep up the hard work, listen and respond to the coaching / education you get and realise that dreams do come true – just ask @RossMcCrorie4
