Dream Debut For Boyd

New signing Kris Boyd got off to a dream start for his new club today as he hit a hat-trick against second division Peterhead.

The young striker has proved this season in the SPL for Kilmarnock that he knows the way to the back of the net but he will be pleased with his hat-trick as it’s important for any new striker at a club to get their first goal so to get three in one game is a dream come true for him.

Despite Rangers dominance in the first half, they only had one goal to celebrate and that didn’t come until the 35th minute, a tap in from defender Soti Kyrgiakos.

It didn’t take long in the second half for Rangers to double their lead and it was Kris Boyd who got the 2nd goal and his first for Rangers in the 50th minute, the striker converted a penalty after Peter Lovenkrands was fouled in the box.

Four minutes later Boyd got his first goal from open play and extended Rangers lead to three. The striker got on the end of a Novo cross.

His hat-trick was complete in the 71st minute when he got on the end of another cross, this time from youngster Alan Lowing.

That was the end of the scoring as far as Boyd was concerned but there was still time for another goal from another Ranger and this time it was young Ross McCormack who was on the scoresheet, McCormack fired in a powerful shot which deflected past Peterhead goalkeeper Paul Mathers.

So a comfortable victory for Rangers and a scoreline you would probably expect but the win is a great boost for Rangers’ morale and it was a brilliant debut for Kris Boyd, hopefully this will spur him on to many more goals for his new club.
