“Don’t Think He Needs That” – Experienced Rangers Midfielder Doesn’t Think Star Needs Coddling After Sunday’s Disappointment

|

With Rangers still reeling from the disappointing defeat to Celtic in the Scottish League Cup last Sunday, we will certainly be hoping for a similar performance, but one that has an end product as we welcome Young Boys to Ibrox for Thursday evening’s Group G Europa League clash.

Having bossed the game at Hampden Park and limited our Old Firm rivals to only one shot on target – they predictably scored from that effort, despite more than a hint of offside – and Fraser Forster was in inspired form every other time we broke through, including Alfredo Morelos’ penalty effort.

Despite the disappointment and frustration, there are certainly plenty of positives fans should take from the game, particularly when it comes to us proving we have closed the gap further on Neil Lennon’s side and it’s those positives we need to take into Thursday evening and one player certainly looking to make up for Sunday, will be Morelos himself.

Experienced midfielder Scott Arfield believes our Colombian international will do just that at the next chance of asking. Speaking to Sky Sports this week as we continue to build up to the next one, he promised that Morelos would need no lifting.

“Not at all. He has dug us out of so many holes this season, he is a fantastic football player and a great character. It’s one of those things, everybody misses penalties and it is what it is. We are fully behind him but I don’t think he needs that. He is a character that knows what he’s all about, we know what he’s all about, the fans know what he’s all about. He will bounce back for sure.”

All we need to do to qualify is avoid defeat, but manager Steven Gerrard will be looking for a lot more than that so we can quickly draw the line and kick on again – especially after dropping points against Aberdeen.
