Doncaster dodges bullet as Rangers attempts to clean up SPFL blocked in resolution rejection

|

Rangers efforts to clean up Scottish football have been stalled with the news that the SPFL member clubs have inexplicably voted, in majority, against the resolution proposed by the Ibrox club.

Despite presenting clubs with an extensive dossier surrounding the actions of officials in the lead up to, the events during and the fall-out in the days after the now infamous initial vote, they weren’t able to garner enough support to see an independent investigation agreed.

Rangers had offered to remove one stumbling block by saying that they would pay for the investigation only for Neil Doncaster, without a hint of irony, to say that it wouldn’t be independent if it was paid for by the “plaintiff” and that the SPFL’s own inquiry was, however, as yet it has not been declared who paid for it and no clubs were consulted in the process.

The next step for Rangers has to be legal action to seek the removal of figures within the SPFL hierarchy, they have already threatened that it may be necessary and believe that they have good chance of being able to remove Neil Doncaster from office.

In the club’s own words – they will not be bullied into silence – and it looks as though a renewed vigour to not accept the current incompetence at the top of the Scottish game will see them proceed on their own with Hearts and Partick Thistle also set to take the fight to those in charge of the game as they count the cost of the actions of the shambles of an organisation that is the SPFL.
