Rangers fans have reacted furiously to the suggestion from journalist Graham Spiers that Steven Gerrard is paranoid for questioning the the ability of refereeing in Scotland over the past few years.
The new Ibrox boss was furious with the performance of Kevin Clancy at Pittodrie on Sunday, letting everyone know his thoughts on the state of Scottish refereeing in his post-match comments.
Gerrard has claimed that poor decisions have been going against the Gers for a number of seasons, something that the majority of fans would certainly agree with.
Spiers though, reckons that opinion is ‘frightening’, taking to Twitter to lambaste the reaction to Sunday’s draw against Aberdeen.
The paranoia that has infected Rangers in recent years – the fans, the club itself – is truly frightening. And here’s Stevie Gerrard, two minutes in the door. https://t.co/vveayByhZg

He seems to miss the point that it’s not really about paranoia, more that fans are looking for better refereeing and more consistent refereeing. The criteria for a sending off seems to change on a near weekly basis.
Rangers fans let him know exactly what their thoughts were on his comments, taking to Twitter to put the record straight from their perspective…
Nobody is paranoid.
Folk are merely asking for consistency.
And I'd invite you to watch the multiple, major decisions that went against Rangers last season, before you decide that there's been absolute balance reently.
Do your job.

An outsider coming in with his stature and knowledge of the game against your petty attention seeking agenda driven opinions…know who most people will listen to.

The fact that someone pays you to write and talk about football is frightening.

Two minutes in the door is one minute and fifty five seconds longer than anyone needs to know your agenda spiersy.

What the hell are you talking about? Do you think that that refereeing performance from Clancy today is in anyway acceptable? Leave the football alone to people who know what they are talking about. Take up knitting.

Maybe he's got a point? Maybe you just can't see it? It happens. Let's face it, the amount of rescinded red cards, the proven jobs for the bhoys in key positions with clear links to Lawell. Yet YOU never choose to comment on this. I think you're scared.

Why don’t you explain the bizarre decisions just from yesterday’s game? Instead of being negative as you normally are. Do something constructive and enlighten us all how the officials made so many errors in favour of one team.

You’ve mistaken ‘paranoia’ – quite the difficult thing to measure – with the new coach using his press time to try to legitimately question refereeing. You’re editorialising something that’s doesn’t need it.
