Yesterday afternoon the Daily Mail updated it’s daily transfer ticker page with a piece of speculation surrounding Rangers and Josh Windass.

The report, if you can call it that, seemed to lean on Windass’ less than perfect relationship with the Gers faithful and suggested that the 24-year-old was set to be on the bench for Thursday evening’s Qualifying Second Round first leg tie against NK Osijek in the Europa League. Building on the bench position for the game, they claimed the player ‘fears’ he’s not going to be pivotal to the side under new manager Steven Gerrard and is, therefore, looking for a return to England.

West Ham United, Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion were linked with an interest and they claimed Rangers wanted £3million for his services but rubbished suggestions that he had a £3million release fee built into his deal.

That’s your lot as far as the report goes and something that fluffy I wouldn’t normally cover, but what caught my attention was a short time after it went live Windass took to social media to Tweet.

Whether it was a complete coincidence or not, I wasn’t alone in wondering if that was his polite answer to wanting out of the club and just his way of letting fans know he’s focused on our upcoming game. There are those amongst the fanbase who don’t want him to move on but simply develop more consistency given his potential as admirably proven by some of the responses below.
