Rangers have confirmed that Greg Stewart and Bongani Zungu have left the club.

The wheeling and dealing has now commenced as the club seek to shape Steven Gerrard’s first team squad for next season.

The news of the loss of the two players does not come as a surprise, given both were expected to depart the club this Summer.

The official club statement included:

‘Rangers Football Club would today like to put on record their sincere thanks to Greg Stewart and Bongani Zungu as they depart Ibrox following their efforts in delivering 55.’

Sporting director Ross Wilson also spoke on the contributions of both players,

“We made a number of changes to the squad last summer and the group has a real strength and connection in it between all of the players. Greg and Bongani were two really positive influences and popular members around the group.”

“As a Rangers fan I know how much it meant to Greg to help the club clinch the league championship and I am delighted he moves on to his next challenge as a league champion.”

Further transfer business, ins and outs, are set to follow ahead of the start of pre-season training at the end of the month.

In addition, it was confirmed that several academy players have departed the club as well.

Jamie Barjonas, Danny Finlayson, Nathan Young-Coombes, Zac Butterworth, Ciaran Dickson, Dapo Mebude, Matthew Shiels, Harris O’Connor, Brian Kinnear and Nicky Hogarth all move on the pastures new.
