As already discussed on Vital Rangers, Ross Wilson should be scouring the English market for potential pre-contract deals that could save us a fortune and one player who would instantly add quality in a position that is needed is Demarai Gray of Leicester City.

The 24-year old winger has made just two appearances for the Foxes this season and is clearly not going to be signing a new contract anytime soon, however, if Rangers were to make a move for the England youth cap they would have to do it soon.

In recent days Marseille, Southampton and Leeds United are said to be eyeing up a pre-contract deal, but it is only the French giants that could actually offer him anything just now – so could we – as English clubs are forbidden to enter talks until the last month.

Gray is good with the ball at his feet, loves taking players on and is rapid, he is also capable of playing anywhere along the front three, an asset that would be hugely beneficial for a team that allows their forwards to rotate and interchange.

Who would you rather have?

After signing from Birmingham City he has struggled to make a consistent impact for Brendan Rodgers’ side but has still managed to amass over 200 appearances between the two top leagues in England, something that would stand him in good stead should he get offered the chance to head north.

Rated at over £10million he won’t be short of suitors but it would be a real statement of intent if we could lure a player of Gray’s calibre away from the riches of the Premier League and one that would certainly fit the business model needed to make money in the current transfer market.
