Rangers manager Graeme Murty confirmed that the club have agreed a deal with Hamilton Academicals for midfielder Greg Docherty.

Speaking to the media following the two nil victory over Aberdeen as Rangers moved into second place in the table, the Evening Times quoted Murty confirming the speculation that said Docherty was close to sealing a move to Ibrox this month.

Murty revealed that he hoped to have the 21 year old with us for the next clash against Ross County at the weekend after we had agreed a reported £680,000 deal for the youngster.

‘It`s another bit off business for another young hungry player desperate to enhance our group. When you saw the players gelling and the improvements we`ve made, it`s an exciting time for players – and for me as a manager. “I want to manage people who are hungry to improve.’

Doherty would become our fifth signing of the window following the additions of Sean Goss, Jamie Murphy, Russell Martin and Jason Cummings to the squad, but Murty also hinted there could be more additions before the deadline slams shut next week.

‘I don’t know if it will be the end of our business.’

With David Bates the subject of some speculation from Sunderland as he heads towards the end of his deal and with Danny Wilson subject to interest from Major League Soccer side Colorado Rapids, Murty went on to say.

‘We`ve talked to David and his reps. He`s a young man we want to retain. We`re also in talks with Danny about his contract. He has other options. But until those things are tied up, they`ll remain in house. What I don`t want to do is enter into speculation that affects players. I picked a team to win the game. It` up to the players not playing to go and get in that team.’
