Double down and go again is pretty much the Daily Record approach when it comes to Rangers.

This time they published an untruth in regard to ticketing arrangements for this weeks clash at Ibrox between the champions and the Staggies.

With an element of normality resumed, away allocations have returned at Ibrox for domestic games with most recently Aberdeen and Hearts supporters following their team on the road to Govan.

This came as a result of the eradication of the requirement for the ‘red zone’  – a sterile area for players and officials near the dugouts and separate from fans – at Ibrox this has been in the East and West Enclosures, either side of the tunnel.

However, the Dingwall club asked for the zone to be kept in place. The result of this is that Rangers supporters need to be housed in the usual away section therefore no space for opposition supporters.

On this basis, how can tickets be refused or withheld, as claimed?

Mischief making

Amazingly, the Daily Record claimed that Ross County were set to bring almost 1000 fans to Ibrox and now they have been let down – absolute nonsense!

The paper with no links or access inside Rangers stated:

“900 fans were set to travel south in the hope of watching Malky Mackay’s side upset the league leaders.”

“Ross County have vented their frustrations after Rangers pulled their Ibrox day allocation.”

“They were initially given 900 tickets handed out to the Staggies’ support ahead of the Scottish Premiership showdown in Govan.”

“However, County have insisted on reinstating a ‘red zone’ for their visit as they want to keep a safe distance from their players and staff and the home fans.”

“They state this is due to a “small number” of the squad who are yet to be double vaccinated.”

“This means Rangers have been forced to move home fans to the away end who would have been in the main stand on Sunday.”

Quite simply – this is untrue and an accurate reflection of facts.

The same source makes a claim, then mentions the facts of County’s request whilst still doubling down on mischief and untruths.

This is their choice and how they choose to report on Rangers, it is not a co-incidence.

In a statement of their own, the Highlands club commented on the matter in a clear, concise way without any confusion or obfuscation.
