Gio van Bronckhorst has named his side for today’s crucial Premiership encounter in the capital with a few big calls made.

Allan Mcgregor retains his place, there is the long awaited inclusion of Ben Davies in central defence and Rabbi Matondo comes in from the cold.

A big decision is the one to opt for Antonio Colak ahead of Alfredo Morelos in attack – it will be very interesting to see how that one pans out.

Rangers team is as follows:

McGregor – Tavernier, Goldson, Davies, Barisic – Lundstram, Jack, Arfield – Kent, Matondo, Colak.

Ryan Jack should benefit from a strong showing in midweek for Scotland against Ukraine. Another display like that one will do just nicely today.

In attack, will we see the real Ryan Kent? Some downtime and relative rest in the last two weeks will hopefully allow the influential winger to get his form back. When he plays well, so does the team.

Antonio Colak has shown his best at Ibrox when Rangers are at home and dominant. He needs to find his way into a typically tough encounter at Tynecastle without getting stranded up front. Many will be dismayed at Morelos being overlooked but that is one for Gio, it is his call and his responsibility.

The importance of this game cannot be understated. So much rests on it in terms of the run to follow, domestically and in Europe. Only a win will do, nothing else is acceptable.

Three points provides a platform to build as well as consistency. Anything else and the pressure on GvB will accelerate, just go get the job done!
