The draw for the Co-operative Insurance League Cup semi-finals was made on Friday and Rangers and Celtic have been kept apart meaning we could have an Old Firm final to look forward to later in the season.

Rangers have been drawn against Motherwell, while Celtic were paired with Aberdeen. Both games will take place at Hampden Park on 29th or 30th January 2011. Rangers are the current holders of the cup.

The Rangers v Motherwell game will spark memories of the league cup final between the pair in 2005 where Rangers thrashed Motherwell 5-1. Rangers have won the competition 26 times, Motherwell have won it once, in 1951.

Rangers and Motherwell have met once already this season. It was at Ibrox and Rangers won 4-1 thanks to goals from Naismith, Davis, Miller and Weiss.

Rangers beat Dunfermline 7-2 and Kilmarnock 2-0 on their way to the semi-final. Motherwell beat Brechin 2-0 followed by a 1-0 victory over Dundee Utd. Both teams started from the third round due to European involvement.
