Former Rangers favourite and radio pundit Derek Johnstone has called on the Ibrox side to make a bold transfer move for in-form winger Ryan Kent.

Kent of course is currently on loan at Rangers from English Premier League side Liverpool and has delighted supporters with dynamic and effective wing play.

He’s been one of the signing success stories at the club this season and Johnstone has been left in no doubt about Kent’s ability to turn his temporary stay into an exciting permanent one.

As quoted by The Evening Times, the club legend said:

He would be a fantastic signing for Rangers going forward but it will come down to Liverpool and the player himself at the end of the day.

All Rangers can do is ask the question and see where all parties stand on the matter and hopefully a deal can be done in the summer.

The likelihood is that Kent will be allowed to leave Liverpool at the end of the season. Given the talent they have available, the chances of the 22-year-old breaking into Jurgen Klopp’s star-studded starting eleven seem slim at best.

Whether they have designs on selling him for a more lucrative fee to the English Championship remains to be seen though.

Rangers have to register their interest early and firmly to keep themselves in the hunt for his signature. They also need to communicate effectively with the player himself that Ibrox is the place for him develop further as a footballer.

Fingers cross it can all be sorted either this January or in the summer.
