Steven Gerrard and his Aston Villa coaching staff, those who followed him from Ibrox paid a classy tribute to Jimmy Bell at his funeral yesterday.

Whilst the Villa party were not able to attend the service in person, nor would they be expected to, a floral bouquet with a dedicated message was present with their thoughts.

A card attached to the arrangement, designed in soft colours of the Midlands club simply read: “From Steven, Gary, Michael, Tom, Jordan, Scott and all at Aston Villa.”

As well as Gerrard, those referred to are obviously Gary McAllister, Michael Beale, Tom Culshaw, Jordan Milsom and analyst Scott Mason – all now in place at the Premier League club.

The tribute placed at Wellington Church, Glasgow, can be viewed here.

Impact

The flowers were organised and sent not because they had to do it, but because they wanted to make the gesture as a representation of what Jimmy Bell meant to them, his impact on ‘strangers’ new to the club as part of the coaching staff as well as his own contribution to their backroom team during the three and a half seasons of Gerrard’s reign in Glasgow.

Jimmy’s service was attended by the current squad, management and directors as well as a plethora of former Rangers figures. Later yesterday afternoon, the cortege gave the legend his last journey past Ibrox, also allowing the fans to pay their respects.

The man will be missed sorely by all but with his Rangers lecagy secured forever, Jimmy Bell will never be forgotten.
