Few players are brave enough to cross the divide from Rangers to Celtic and even fewer ever make a success of it.

This, however, is the path that Ciaran Dickson has chosen to take after being unceremoniously dumped from his contract with the Light Blues that still had two years left to run.

Dickson, ironically, played for Burnley’s Under-23 team against Rangers in the summer as a trialist but obviously hasn’t impressed after pictures of him holding a Celtic shirt at Parkhead and signing what looks like a contract.

There was never an official reason given for his release but social media was awash with stories regarding his conduct, after all, clubs tend not to tear up contracts when they could get some sort of financial compensation for talented youngsters – especially when you consider that Dickson had made his first-team debut earlier in the season.

Who scored the winner in Sunday's first Old Firm of 2021/22?

Rangers fans responded to the news on social media and, let’s just say, they weren’t exactly bothered about his choice of new club:

It’s a strange signing from Celtic, if a player isn’t good enough for us and has a questionable attitude, why would they entertain the idea of signing him? We’ve seen it for with the likes of Liam Burt, it’s almost as if they still haven’t gotten over us signing Maurice Johnston all those years ago, let it go lads, just let it go.
