Following the addition of Conor Goldson and Nikola Katic to the Rangers first team this summer, manager Steven Gerrard hasn’t really hidden the fact he’d like another body in the centre of defence to keep us well stocked with options this year.

Numerous links have surfaced with possible targets over the last few weeks as continues building and shaping his squad for what’s to come in 2018/19, and the latest speculation sees us linked with a move for Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall.

The Daily Record have reported that we have possibly stolen a march on the 21-year-old talented youngster by being the first to launch a firm bid for his services.

It’s said that Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion are also interested in loan deals for the centre-half but our advantage is mainly they wouldn’t be dealing with a local rival.

It’s not believed Forest would want to deal on a permanent basis so our approach is said to be a loan move only at this stage, but plenty of fans have welcomed the news.

He’s an England Under 21 international and he skippered their side to victory at the Toulon Tournament back in 2017 and he was a regular in the Forest side until last season and he’s fallen way down Aitor Karanka’s pecking order given the signings he made over the summer.

He does carry over 50 Championship appearances to his name despite his age, but Karanka has gone for experience so this could be a cracking capture if we can pull it off.
