We’re realistic enough to know that we’ve been neither good enough, or consistent enough, to catch Hearts – too much continued turmoil off the pitch isn’t helping…. Second place was lost though when Hibernian beat us at Ibrox on Friday night.

It wasn’t the first time they’ve beaten us this season either was it, nor was it the second as the two-nil defeat was the third straight league defeat we’ve suffered against them as we dropped to third in the Championship table.

The Rangers fan protest against the board, as is the norm these days, saw Nacho Novo, John Brown and Iain Ferguson all join the protestors this time ahead of the game.

Boyd and Miller both had chances, the latter denied by a goal line clearance as he looked to follow up a Vuckic effort that had been parried away by Hibs ‘keeper Oxley.

Robinson saved well from Cummings, following an Allan cross, but the rebound fell to Robertson (19) was left with the simple task of putting the ball into the empty net to give the visitors the lead.

Miller’s race was run in the first half when injury forced him off with Clark coming on with Boyd then forcing Oxley into another save as we sought an equaliser with Oxley, having seen a penalty appeal from Vuckic following a challenge from Hanlon, pulling off another fine save to keep Faure’s header out.

Boyd went close again, more than once, with Allan putting a freekick into the side netting before the points were secured when Fyvie went clear to set up Stevenson (82) who secured our fate with a late second….

When you’ve lost, even when you’ve won at times it can be hard to pick out a ‘Man of the Match’, but who was this for us in this game? That’s what the latest poll is asking.

Do cast a vote. Did a starter, or someone from the bench, offer us the most in defeat on Friday night?

Select the name that you want from the list in the MotM poll to your right….
