If we look over to the other side of Glasgow for a moment, Celtic’s fixture list over the next few weeks presents the realistic last chances for any hopes of lost points to capitalise on.

Ange Postecoglou’s team are, begrudgingly, on an excellent run of form at present and to be honest, they don’t look like changing that pattern any time soon. That said, a slip can happen like St Mirren earlier in the season in what would likely be a one-off. Rangers will need to continue to gather the Premiership points starting at Easter Road tonight, in order to make any dent in the current nine point gap.

Their fixture list looks as follows until the start of next month:

8 Mar – Hearts (H)
11 Mar – Hearts (A) SC
18 Mar – Hibs (H)
2 Apr – Ross Co (A)
8 Apr – Rangers (H)

The above games in the Premiership and Scottish Cup are set to be season defining in one way or another.

Over the next 10 days, the Edinburgh clubs will go head to head against the Parkhead team which will be an interesting test of their credentials, especially for Hearts in the back to back clash. The Scottish Cup carries obvious significant weight just now.

Beyond that, a tricky trip to the Highland awaits, ahead of the third Old Firm clash of the season. If nothing is dropped by Rangers or Celtic until that point then it will be pivotal. A lot of football is set to be played up to that point so as always, it is what Michael Beale’s team do that matters most.

The game against Hibs this evening presents the chance to settle a score from earlier in the season when the visitors were robbed by Willie Collum’s decision to send off John Lundstram.

With Hibs likely to be bold and have a go, it should open up the game once again for another interesting encounter. These games in Leith are rarely dull, especially under the lights.

A crucial stage of the season commences tonight with the Gers facing three away Premiership games including Parkhead, over the next five fixtures.
