There’s always a scapegoat.
For whatever reason, despite only starting a handful of games for the club, and usually getting played out of position, Cedric Itten seems to be the current player getting pelters for not being good enough, it doesn’t help when his name is seen on Instagram liking a post in which Sky Sports praise the performance of a Celtic player.
This led to a social media debate between fans and, thankfully, most seemed not to care about the indiscretion, however one or two participated in a spot of confirmation bias by jumping to the conclusion that Itten has never been good enough to be a Rangers player and that this seals the deal.
It’s embarrassing that a Rangers player is liking posts congratulating a Celtic player scoring goals something that he can’t do for his own team.

If Cedric Itten has liked that photo mistakenly then it will be corrected, if he hasn’t done it mistakenly he should be hunted.

Rangers fan Youtuber @OhItsSteely deleted a post in which he went in hard on Itten, in the process receiving stick for what subsequently turned out to be a mistake by the Rangers forward.

Deleting Itten post he’s unliked it, taking the chance to block ppl. If you don’t like an opinion scroll past or unfollow even. Why be toxic towards ppl for a different opinion? Luckily I’m strong minded but a lot of ppl aren’t & you don’t know how your words might affect them.

The irony of someone abusing a player to then criticise others for abuse won’t be lost on some. In a rare moment of maturity though, Rangers fans were, in the majority, supportive of the Swiss international and played down the incident, after all, there was a time when Rangers and Celtic players were best mates – remember Giovanni van Bronkhorst and Henrik Larsson? Just as well social media wasn’t around when they were going out for meals together.
Cedric Itten’s goal against Motherwell at ibrox won us the league last year. Anyone slagging him needs to get a grip.

People are actually going off their nut at Cedric Itten for a post from Sky in Instagram which could’ve been easily accidentally liked.
Calm down and stop being so dramatic.

To think no Rangers player was ever good pals with Celtic players and to think Walter smith and Tommy burns, billy McNeil, John Greig never went out boozing after old firm games , but Cedric itten likes a post from kyogo and twitters gone nuts 😂

I can just picture it in May: ‘What was the crucial moment in the title race that cost you, Steven?’
‘Well, when Ced liked that Sky Sports insta post back in August, that was it for us.’

Much a do about nothing, but when you have just lost your first league game in 40, fans will always be looking for someone to blame, whether or not they actually deserve it, it’s modern football though and every post, every like, every Tweet is scrutinised. It’s safe to say that Itten will have learned this lesson the hard way.
