Pedro Caixinha has given more thoughts on victory over Sheffield Wednesday, and he believes he’s seeing the signs of the team starting to put into practice what he wants from them.

With Josh Windass and Kenny Miller finding the net at Hillsborough to give us victory in our most recently friendly, Caixinha has been back in front of club press this morning speaking more about the performance.

He’s quoted by the Official Site as saying the more he reflects on the showings, there were really some good signs in both attack and defence against a quality Wednesday side.

Having kept the clean sheet and scored in both halves, the gaffer explained.

‘The boys are getting the idea in terms of being in position, keeping the shape and inviting the opponent into zones or areas where you can recover the ball. They are also getting the notion of when is the perfect moment to put on higher pressure collectively, and from that situation, it resulted in our first goal.’

He went on to say.

‘It was a fantastic transition in front, and afterwards we released the space behind their defensive line. I`m very pleased with the work from the boys and their effort, but we need to work hard this week in order to get even better on Sunday, which is what really, really matters.’

As for Miller’s second strike on the day, he explained he was always confident the goals would come when the movement and understanding was right as we have goal-getters at the club.

‘We know Kenny is a finisher, and sooner or later the goals were going to arrive. We knew also we were going to be solid in defence and in some moments we were going to suffer and we have to know how to suffer.’

Adding defensively.

‘We saw for example our centre-halves had to win a lot of balls in the air. Then, when it was the moment to close the game, we played with three centre-halves, and that is another option which we have, especially with opponents who play with two number-nines as target men and put balls in the box. It was perfect, but let`s focus and understand it has taken a lot for us to arrive here, and there is a lot for us to keep looking forward to. This is the mentality we need to keep until the end of the season.’
