Pedro Caixinha has said he feels that the spirit is growing within the Rangers camp and he felt the proof of that was how the team celebrated scoring in our last game.

With Josh Windass and Kenny Miller finding the net in the two nil victory over Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough in our most recent friendly, Caixinha was again interviewed by the Official Site as he continues to look ahead to the coming campaign and this interview topic was spirit and togetherness within the group and he feels fans can now see that growing as the players become more comfortable with his ideas.

‘I think that one of the ways you see the spirit that a squad has on the pitch is when the team celebrates a goal. If you watched the game on RangersTV then you can see from the way that we celebrated the second goal that the squad are gaining in confidence and spreading that to each other.’

With similar squads chosen for both the Watford and Sheffield Wednesday games, whilst players haven’t had level playing time, Caixinha explained that was simply down to competition for places already existing in the group and players already need to fight for their places.

‘We have options everywhere now and that`s the main reason why we wanted to start to build the squad and to build that competitiveness. It`s true that the guys who are playing in the starting eleven just now are doing really well just now, which means that the guys who are fighting for a position need to keep pushing. That`s the competitiveness we want. We have the squad we designed and built and we know that we have the squad that we asked for. We are really pleased with all of the work and effort that the boys have been putting in so far.’

With Windass playing on the left of a four man midfield in both of the last two games, the gaffer went on to say about him.

‘Josh is a nice boy and a very good player, with huge potential. We just need to work with him on the mental side in order for him to have more self confidence and to believe more in himself. We`re looking for him to have a more regular state of play and we want more from him.’

Adding about the position switch.

‘He played more in the wide area and I think it suits him better changing the pattern of playing wide and helping inside, playing between the lines and more connections with the strikers and central midfielders. That is what Josh can give to us and he is doing really well and is going to help us definitely and will make sure that the team and squad is more competitive by having more options for us.’
