Pedro Caixinha has been giving his thoughts following the weekend’s defeat to Hibernian.

Hosting Neil Lennon’s side at Ibrox for the game, Rangers took the early lead through Alfredo Morelos who found the net three minutes into the game but by the half time break we were two one down and just after the hour mark they made that three. James Tavernier, having scored an own goal balanced his personal tally up inside of the final ten minutes but being down to ten men, Rangers couldn’t get that third and very disappointingly couldn’t register a third effort on target.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media following the game, Caixinha’s disappointment was clear to see as he knew we had a terrific start to the match but then it fell away.

‘We started the game very well as we have been doing in the last five games. The team was well aware of the emotional side of the game, but we lost two or three balls to the opponent, which left two strikers up front and we were not balanced in the moment we conceded the equaliser. We went again in the game and we had a fantastic chance to make the second goal but didn`t make it. Afterwards came the sending off and we then conceded again.’

He went on to say.

‘When we had a chance in the second half for an equaliser with Morelos we didn`t take it, then they scored a third. The boys were fighting against difficult conditions in the game with the momentum totally in the control of the opponent. We got the second goal, which put us a little bit in the game, but it was not enough.’

As for the red card shown to Ryan Jack, Caixinha wasn’t going to fall into the trap of risking punishment by speaking about the referee.

‘I am not the type of guy which speaks about referees and I always take my responsibilities, but I think everyone involved in the game needs to take their responsibilities. I know I am going to take care of my boys and I know the character of the boys I have down there, and I know they will have a strong reaction. This game is not about only playing for yourself – there are a lot of elements which we also need to improve. But we are here, we are the people and we will keep going in front.’

He did however confirm that Rangers would be appealing the decision.

‘We are going to appeal it, and we will show the images. I invite the referee to watch it, and to be honest, normally when someone commits a mistake, at least to my principles, I would recognise it.’

With half time changes seeing Lee Hodson and Daniel Candeias head off for Danny Wilson and Eduardo Herrera, he went on to say that was to try and give us a better attacking balance.

‘We were losing the game and we could not wait to see what was going on. We tried to play with three at the back, to keep the balance with two strikers up front, and to have players in wide areas who could get forward, and two players in midfield – again with Kenny Miller making a huge sacrifice there with Graham Dorrans. The two players up front we wanted to be target players, to attack the spaces and to hold the ball for second waves.’
