Pedro Caixinha was delighted with the overall performance Rangers put in against Dunfermline yesterday evening, and Alfredo Morelos took particular praise.

Hosting the side at Ibrox, Rangers took a comfortable and comprehensive six nil victory on the evening with goals from Miller, Bruno Alves, a Morelos brace, Tavernier and Candeias all finding the net and speaking to the Official Site as he met the media following the game, a positive manager explained.

‘Of course I knew Bruno could score free-kicks like that, Helder Baptista told him to take it, he told Daniel to take his too! Bruno was always an option for free-kicks, we have lots of players who can take them but definitely Bruno is one. Niko is another and Daniel is also is that group but we have other players in that group like for example, Josh and James.’

As for Morelos’ brace on the day, he went on to say.

‘I am really pleased for Alfredo because he is a young boy with terrific potential in front of him, you can see the hunger and desire. Strikers live for goals and I am very pleased that he could score two goals tonight at Ibrox and celebrate. I hope that has given him a lot of confidence for the future.’

He went on to add.

‘All these players could be in my first XI, they fight for it and they know that. We have a very competitive squad and when you have players who are competitive and everyone is fighting in the same direction it is fantastic. We are really pleased with the players we have, with the squad that we have and with the options that we have.’

Through to the quarter finals now, Caixinha went on to say he was pleased with the momentum the side were building and that was a positive for him.

‘I think we are all happy, it was a fantastic game. I think the boys are all properly understanding about the momentum and how to build it from the very beginning of the match. We have approached all the last four matches with a great attitude and with a great desire to call the game for us. The major point for us has been winning the last four matches. I am also pleased about the second half because even winning 4-0 at half-time we were having some easy losses which I was not liking. We talked about that at half-time and we tried to explain to them how the opponent was playing and how the spaces work in order to keep the ball and not lose it so easy. I am pleased with the game overall, I am pleased with the result and I am pleased with the result.’

Midfielder Jordan Rossiter was also speaking as he got the start following almost a year out with injury.

‘It was unbelievable to be out there. It has been a really frustrating year and everyone who knows me knows how much of a nightmare of a season it`s been. I`ve come through it, I`m better for it and I`m so glad to be back playing a competitive 90 minutes. It`s such a great feeling, an hopefully I can push on now.’

Speaking about the game itself, he went on to say.

‘It was a brilliant performance from the lads tonight and I don`t think we have them a minute right from the first whistle. It`s credit to the lads too for not slowing up in the second half by keeping going and to get six goals is always good. To have 35,000 too on a Wednesday night and have them fully behind us is unbelievable.

Rossiter is obviously hoping he remains involved with the first team but he knows he has a battle on his hands with Graham Dorrans and Ryan Jack.

‘I`ve come through pre-season fit and had no niggles or injuries. I`m feeling good, and I know I have been out for a long time so I need to work my way into the team, but I feel good to do that. Both Graham and Ryan have done great, and I just need to keep on trying to push and I will learn from them too. Everyone was disappointed after some of the pre-season results and the European games, but the gaffer has spoken about building momentum, but ever since the Marseille and Watford games, we have been absolutely superb and it is only going to be good for us, especially with Hibs coming here on Saturday.’
