BT Sport pundit and Ibrox legend Ally McCoist believes Rangers manager Steven Gerrard will be desperate to sign winger Ryan Kent this summer, as reported by The Scottish Sun.

Kent has wowed supporters with dynamic attacking play on the Gers’ left flank this season, but with his loan expiring at the end of the current campaign there are concerns we might not be able to arrange an extended stay in Glasgow.

McCoist believes the 22-year-old’s form means that another loan deal is the most likely way to keep him at Ibrox, but that the manager will be doing all he can to make that happen.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, the former Gers striker said:

Kent has been fabulous this season. Since coming back from his injury lay-off he’s been terrific and for me he was the best player on the park against Celtic.

I’d imagine if there’s any way Steven could keep him, he’d be desperate to do so. However, it looks like another loan deal is the only way it could happen.

His performances might just have priced Rangers out the market for him. I might be wrong but I think Rangers’ best chance of keeping him would be a loan deal for next season.

With just six goals and nine assists across the 2018/19 campaign, some might argue that Kent’s direct goal contribution should be higher but there’s no doubt he is one of the best players in Gerrard’s starting eleven.

If he can start finding consistency when it comes to that final ball or finding himself in positions to score more then he would be an absolute sensation next season.

The hope will be that no clubs come sniffing for his permanent signing, because you’d have to think we’d be up there with the favourites to sign him if Liverpool decide to send him out on loan again.
