From Liverpool lad to legend, Rangers rookie to revolutionary.
Steven Gerrard is rightly renowned as an icon for his prowess on the pitch, but now he is earning his stripes off the pitch as the figurehead at Ibrox.
It was on this day in 2018, that Gerrard was confirmed as the next permanent manager of Rangers.
That news and the feverish reception inside Ibrox that transpired, paired a passionate support longing for hope, direction and leadership with a football man who was sorely missing the edge and pressure that he thrived on, during his playing days.
It was a risk, but a mutual one – a collective void needed to be filled.
Aided by a very talented coaching and support team, Gerrard the manager/coach has evolved and matured from the man who first prowled the Ibrox touchline with raw passion and emotion to the delight of a baying crowd, on his unveiling day.
Prior to Rangers, Gerrard was a regular analyst and pundit on BT Sport, across their European coverage in particular.
Today, the broadcaster released a fine montage of clips, showing Gerrard’s progression from his Anfield debut to his recent Scottish Premiership success – finally capturing the much sought after league medal that until now has eluded the Liverpudlian’s vast array of honours.
Steven Gerrard – The Turning Point.
A legend in Liverpool, a God in Glasgow.
