Rangers, according to reports in Greece, have had a second offer for PAOK Salonika striker Antonio Colak rejected, however, it would appear that a move for the 28-year old is close.

Georgios Sideridis, a journalist who has been at the front and centre of the speculation, has confirmed, via his Twitter account, that he expects a deal to be done soon:

The add-ons, according to Sideridis, are linked to our progression to the Champions League, an obvious but pretty straight forward extra that makes a lot of sense for both parties, given the financial rewards for making it to the group stages.

A fee of around £2.3million for an international class striker with nearly 150 senior goals to his name is not a lot of money, he also has an excellent fitness history, Rangers fans that have been quick to write him off because of his journeyman-esque career would do well to look at his basic figures at almost every club he has been at – he produces solid numbers, exactly what we want from a player who won’t be expected to start every game but could be trusted to do a job if he does.

It’s not quite “all signed and here we go” but it’s not far away.
