Rangers have been knocked out of the UEFA Europa League after failing to beat Rapid Vienna in Austria tonight.

Needing a win to progress from Group G into the knockout stages of the competition, Steven Gerrard’s side performed fairly admirably against the home side but just could not find their way to the result they needed, eventually conceding a late goal to lose 1-0.

Overall the club can look back proudly on their European run. Gerrard took the side from an early exit in the qualifying rounds last term to going toe-to-toe with sides from La Liga and the Russian Premier League.

One player that stood out tonight despite the result was midfielder Ryan Jack. He was tireless in the middle of the park before being substituted for a more attacking player as Gerrard sought out a winner.

If all eleven of the team performed to his standards, we would have strolled through.

These fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on his Thursday display…
