January could be a nervous month for Rangers fans.

Not because we face Celtic on the other side or because we have players away for the African Cup of Nations but, the prospect of losing Glen Kamara and Joe Aribo, in particular, is one that many won’t want to consider in this winter transfer window.

We have already seen a few Premier League sides sniffing about the Nigerian international and former Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers, is the latest to have his head turned by his stunning form under Giovanni van Bronckhorst, according to Fichajes.

As already discussed by Vital Rangers, for our best players who are under contract – Aribo, Kamara, Alfredo Morelos etc – the starting price should be £20million, Ross Wilson has to set the benchmark for other potential departures in the future and if wealthy clubs from down south want to cherry pick our best talent then they will have to dig deep for them.

Aribo might not quite be ready for a top six side but the clubs that he has been linked with – Aston Villa, Southampton and now Leicester City – are all a decent level with established Premier League experience.

Rodgers will be fully aware of the qualities that a player needs to make the step up from the Scottish Premiership to one of the best in the world, if Kenny McLean and Stuart Armstrong can do it, I’m pretty sure a player of Aribo’s ability would make the transition without any real difficulty.

We all know that Aribo won’t be around forever, we can only hope that our sporting director gets top price for a top, top player – preferably in the summer though.
