Joe Aribo will be monitored on his return to the Rangers camp after he sat out Nigeria’s game against Lesotho.

The London-born player was reported to be suffering from a stomach problem which caused him to miss out on the Super Eagles home game after he played the full 90 minutes in Benin – with his team winning 1-0.

They won the latter game of the double header, 3-0.

Ahead of the Scottish Cup game on Sunday against Cove Rangers, manager Steven Gerrard will assess his options before he is likely to shuffle his pack.

Quite a few squad players will come into the reckoning whilst those who were away on international duty will be spared, as much as possible.

Given the adventure on the seas that Aribo and Balogun experienced, both Nigerian internationals could be left out.

Another issue for Gerrard is a lack of cover at right-back if Balogun doesn’t play, so we await with interest to see what transpires.

In the middle of the pitch and in attack, changes will be made – there are plenty of others ready to step in to stake their claim.
