Rangers are assessing former River Plate midfielder Matias Abelairas who is currently on trial. The 26 year old midfielder is training at Murray Park and played in a close door game against Kilmarnock on Tuesday.
The Argentinian player is a free agent after being released by River Plate. He holds an Italian passport so no work permit would be required should Rangers move in for the player.
Rangers gaffer Ally McCoist said: ‘He played in a close-doors game against Kilmarnock on Tuesday and he did fine. He is enjoying training and we are enjoying having him and that’s the way we will keep it going at the moment.’
