Many Rangers fans are convinced the club will sign Hearts striker Kyle Lafferty this week after manager Steven Gerrard stated he was a ‘great player’ following Sunday’s win at Kilmarnock.

As quoted by The Scottish Sun, the Rangers boss said: “I’m not sure whether we’ll have anyone new in before Thursday but I’m very optimistic about having someone before the window. He (Lafferty) isn’t my player. He’s a great player, I like him a lot, but I won’t talk about anyone else’s players.”

Reading between the lines, it looks like he is destined for an imminent switch to Glasgow.

The player himself appeared to say goodbye to supporters after Hearts’ win away to Dunfermline Atheltic on Saturday.

Lafferty would be excellent back-up to the impressive Alfredo Morelos, proving his ability to still score goals in Scotland with a 19-goal haul for Hearts last term.

Also consistently finding the back of the net against Celtic, he could be a key weapon for the Gers this season.

It’s a move that fans have been waiting on for a while now, with many taking to Twitter on Sunday to share their excitement at his potential arrival…
