Back in October, Everton’s Mo Bešić was said to be under consideration by Rangers in a loan move to bring the player to Ibrox.

The Glasgow Times reported that the player was being monitored with a view to a late move in the last window.

Instead, it was Bongani Zungu who was signed and he has shown glimpses of quality but it is fair to say that he is still very much settling into the team.

Considering current injury concerns with Scott Arfield and Ryan Jack, could the 28-year old Bosnian Bešić be the man that Rangers turn to, to provide cover in midfield and to add some steel in the middle of the pitch?

This week, the Liverpool Echo stated that Toffees boss Ancelotti was looking to offload some players who are surplus to requirements, including Bešić and Yannick Bolasie. Middlesbrough saw a late move for Bolasie falter on deadline day in October whilst the Bosnian moved to the Riverside Stadium on loan in January 2018. At the end of that season, the loan deal was extended for the duration of the following 18/19 season.

The combative midfielder spent last season on loan at Sheffield United and this term, has not made a single top-team appearance for Everton.

It is expected that Bešić will leave Goodison Park this month and after two previous loans, he may well be looking for a permanent, fresh start elsewhere.

The Echo report, linked above, did state that there are no bids received yet but there are clubs enagaged in preliminary discussions with Everton.
